In their research of public health information at the local, regional, and global levels, students identify trends and problems that call for a humanitarian solution. This unit promotes the necessary scientific, cultural and civic literacy for students to become informed advocates for public policies that will improve the health of their communities.
This unit uses Service Learning as a tool to address an integrated thematic essential question:

By getting involved in preparing for and carrying out a public health campaign on their own campus, students will not only learn about disease prevention, but they will also learn about the importance of equitable access to health care and resources.
